Sr. Network Engineer

Afni is hiring a Sr. Network Engineer who will manage the purchase, installation and support of network communications that includes LAN, WAN, IPT/VoIP, Wireless, NMS and Network Security Systems. You will be responsible for evaluating current systems and work on complex problems where analysis of situation requires in-depth evaluation of various factors. You will plan large scale system projects through vendor comparison and cost studies while providing work leadership and training to lower level network engineers. It requires expert knowledge of LAN, WAN, IPT, Wireless, NMS, and Network Security infrastructure, networks and applications.

What you will be doing:

  • Monitors the configuration, installation and support of network infrastructure for new installations as well as upgrades to existing environments and provides mentoring as needed to team members.
  • Oversees core switching, routing and VoIP technologies in remote sites and data centers and is responsible for uptime as relates to system availability, stability and response.
  • Designs, installs, configures and maintains Cisco multi-layer network switches, routers, wireless access points, voice gateways/gatekeepers, wireless access points, IDS, firewalls and VPNs to provide maximum availability of each respective system.
  • Responsible for the design and development of the network services architecture and implementation of new network infrastructure; maintenance of existing systems, ensure that proper implementation, failure recovery and security procedures are followed.
  • Maintains, audits and develops business cases related to physical network connectivity in order to ensure the effectiveness and efficiencies of all network interfaces.
  • Works directly with external team members and clients to resolve interoperability issues pertaining to any connectivity required for Afni to perform any business process
  • Administers security issues pertaining to any access including VPN and firewall security with direct responsibility for the protection of and well-being of corporate assets.
  • Identifies deficiencies of both technical issues and business processes, elevates risk to team lead and/or reporting management, and proposes innovative solutions to address issue.


What you will need:
  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field, bachelor degree preferred. 7+ years of experience in the field of Network Engineering required.
  • Cisco CCNP Certification is required.
  • Cisco CCDA, CCIP, CCDP, CCSP and/or CCVP Certification is highly desired.
  • Microsoft MCP, MCSA and/or MCSE highly desired.
  • Cisco call managers, VoIP phones, Unity/unified messaging, and UCCE knowledge highly desired.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with network management concepts, associated technology, and network management platforms is required.
  • Ability to provide detailed root cause analysis of complex network, voice, and security issues.
  • Expert knowledge of network infrastructure, protocols, and standards is required.
  • Ability to take on lead role to mentor and support team in projects and daily tasks.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multi task with attention to details
  • Ability to operate under tight deadlines and changing priorities is essential
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills (negotiation, coaching, team-building, positive thinking, can-do attitude and job flexibility) are required
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects is required
  • Must be assertive team player with positive attitude and high energy level
