Solutions Architect

The Solutions Architect (SA) is a complex position with many processes that bridge gaps between business problems and technology solutions. Afni is hiring for this role that encompasses:

  • Building and integrating information systems to meet the company's needs.
  • Continually researching current and emerging technologies and proposing changes where needed.
  • Describing the structure, characteristics, behavior, and other aspects of technologies being implemented to key stakeholders at a high level.
  • Providing updates to stakeholders on product development processes, costs, and budgets.
What you will be doing:
  • Assess the systems architecture currently in place and working with technical staff to recommend solutions to improve it.
  • Resolve escalated technical problems as they arise. (Tier 4)
  • Provide supervision and guidance to Engineering teams through training and mentoring.
  • Assess the business impact that certain technical choices have.
  • Research current and emerging technologies and proposing changes where needed.
  • Create solution prototypes.
  • Participate in technology selection.
  • Ensure development of solutions by providing policies and procedures around new technologies.
  • Observe IT services and identify areas for improvement.

Requirements

What you will need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or at least 8 years of working in one or multiple IT areas.
  • Possess strong technical knowledge of infrastructure technologies, including cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), virtualization technologies (VMware), network technologies (routing & switching, load balancing, firewalls), storage technologies (SAN, NAS), desktop management solutions (Intune, SCCM)
  • Experience with infrastructure automation and scripting (e.g., Ansible, PowerShell)
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified, VMware Certified Professional, or Cisco Certified Network Professional are a plus.
  • Proven experience in IT infrastructure engineering and architecture design.
  • Can apply an entrepreneurial approach and passion to problem solving when building solutions.
  • Previous project and product management experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills and ability to handle shifting priorities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to mentor engineers is required. (negotiation, team-building, positive thinking, can-do attitude, and job flexibility)
  • Must be an assertive team player with positive attitude and high energy level.
  • Able to participate in after-hours on-call activities.
