IT Project Manager

Position Purpose:

Under direct supervision, the IT Project Manager is responsible for overseeing various business and/or Technology related projects that could be highly complex in nature. The incumbent is responsible for the initiation, planning, execution, control, and closure of assigned IT-impacted projects. Must ensure resources, scope, time, and quality are managed in alignment with the external project environment (inside and outside of the company). Additional responsibilities are related to communication, documentation, management of costs, and risks, and ensuring that all project needs are met.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Utilizing Expert Knowledge to build project plans with resource demands, hour estimations, and timelines for project proposals.

  • Coordinate and perform a design phase
  • Review plan for resource allocations
  • Plan Change Control management
  • Hand-off and project closure in accordance with IT PMO guidelines

2. Continuously update project documentation to reflect the current and estimated future state of the project plan.

3. Perform communications in accordance with PMO standards while adjusting communication needs to meet unique situations.

4. Ensure that resources are aware of project and task expectations.

  • Monitor and control project work
  • Report deficiencies
  • Adjust plans as required

5. Negotiate with resource managers for resource allocations to project plans.

  • Client management
  • Vendor management

6. Build project proposals based on business cases or requests by Work Breakdown Structure decomposition.

Requirements

Minimum Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Skills):

  • Education equivalent to four or five years of college (Bachelor’s degree) in a relevant field and at least three to five year of s relevant experience in an IT environment is recommended
  • Project Management (CAPM, PMP, SAFE Agile, LEAN, or Scrum Master) certification is required
  • ITIL Foundations Certification v2011 or later is recommended
  • Strong soft skills: leadership, facilitation, stakeholder management
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Highly skilled at collaborating with business partners and translating technical terms into business language
  • Ability to work effectively with business and technology stakeholders and executive management
  • Ability to build positive, mutually-beneficial relationships
  • Ability to kindle development in others, and precipitate them to provide their own direction and support
  • Experience building project proposals by providing the proposals for desired outcome is preferred
  • Experience building project plans, work breakdown structures, and project reports is required
  • Experience managing multiple projects or a project portfolio/program is preferred
  • Experience applying different methodologies to fit project needs is preferred
  • General relationships functions and relationship including networking, software development, telephony, and server infrastructure
  • Advanced proficiency with the following tools: Excel, SharePoint, MS Visio
  • Must be outcome and results-oriented
  • Must be an independent, self-motivated professional with experience in a large corporate environment
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to dynamic environment; Self-aware of personal styles and benefits of adjusting communication approaches to achieve joint objectives
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced, multiple-priority environment
  • Results-driven with acute attention to detail and accuracy
